This work aimed to contextualize the content Study of Solutions from the generating theme Environmental Pollution with the insertion of the concepts of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), to assist in the teaching and learning process, enabling students to interpret and give an opinion about a certain polluted water, based on the scientific concepts of Chemistry taught in the classroom. It was qualitative research. It was developed with a class of the 2nd year of high school. For this, a teaching proposal was organized on the content Study of Solutions from the generating theme Environmental Pollution. The data collection instrument started with the application of 2 questionnaires. The first contained 5 questions of which 3 were objective and 2 were subjective about the Solutions content. The second questionnaire contained 2 subjective questions about the teaching proposal applied. For the investigation of the questionnaires, content analysis was used according to Bardin (2011). In view of the above results, it was found that it is up to the teacher that it is necessary to carry out classes that enable the students to learn to develop a critical view of environmental aspects, so that they experience other possibilities of learning Chemistry.
