Abstract

This article aims to investigate the emic knowledge of a farmer, in corn cultivation, during the development of a pedagogical proposal based on Ethnomodelling. The article is part of the results of a dissertation of the Graduate Program in Education in Science and Mathematics at the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC). The research participants were 22 students of the 3rd year of high school, from a State School of Bahia, located in the municipality of Laje-BA, characterized as Escola do Campo, and a 322 farmer from the local community. The data were produced from an interview with the farmer. Data analysis was carried out through Content Analysis, with the construction of emerging categories: local knowledge - emic knowledge; and, in search of a glocal relationship – dialogic knowledge. The results showed that the knowledge and practices of the farmer (emics) are loaded with aspects related to Mathematics, and in addition, other discussions gained prominence, which indicate a movement of glocalization. In addition, there is a need to propose actions that favor the recognition of knowledge from the groups to which students belong, which is fundamental for the construction of peasant identity.
