The paper presents a using proposition of theater plays in scholar History learning which puts in evidence the afro-Brazilian issue in the 20th century. It is the result of researches and reflections that aimed to contextualize a reading of History Didactic for scholar reality. The chosen plays – Sortilégio II: mistério negro de Zumbi redivivo (1951; 1979) and Arena Conta Zumbi (1965) – are described and analyzed in order to underpin a proposition that relates them to the students’ own subjectivity, in a larger
reframing project of the Brazilian identity discourse.
