Abstract

This article aims analyze the diffusion of agrochemichals as a benefic technology to farmers (if well used) and the role of agricultural cooperatives in this process. Cooperatives that received state support for agricultural modernization and are important trading partners of multinationals that distribute agrochemichals in Brazil. The focus will be given to an analysis of the case of Cooperalfa - largest agricultural cooperative in Santa Catarina state, which implemented, in the mid-1990s, a project "fight against misuse of agrochemichals".
