This article is about memories of students of gymnasium education from the Alto Vale do Itajaí – Santa Catarina, about their school career in primary school at the time of admission exams to the gymnasium. The purpose of this study is to understand the school path of the research subjects in primary education, perceiving elements of meaning in the narratives about childhood memories. The analysis of the narratives was made from the elements of meaning highlighted in the interviews about the childhood period of the research subjects. From this study, two components of analysis were observed: the frequency of the sense elements and the way it reverberated in the oral and written narratives of the research subjects
