Contextualizing from the perspective of productive and urban restructuring, we will seek to analyze in this article the economic events that contributed to the urban expansion of Angra dos Reis, corroborating the processes of segregation and fragmentation of its urban space. Furthermore, due to its natural beauty and the ease that its coastline provides for nautical tourism, the city has stood out for the influence of tourist-real estate capital, with a significant number of closed residential lots. However, it is also a city marked by land conflicts, poverty and social inequality. In this text, we intend to highlight the processes of self-segregation evidenced in the city, placing emphasis on the analysis of closed residential spaces, highlighting three complexes of closed residential subdivisions in the municipality, due to their extension and tourist-real estate importance: the Porto Bracuhy, Porto Frade and Portogalo complexes. Security, comfort and walls are the main characteristics
of these projects, with the majority of property owners not permanently residing in the city under study. To conclude, we must highlight that Angra dos Reis is quite fragmented and unequal, making it necessary to urgently implement public policies aimed at less favored populations.
