This article aims to problematize the positions of the Catholic Church in relation to the military regime in Brazil, through publications in national journals and magazines. By the analysis of articles published between 1968 and 1979, especially in Veja magazine, we can observe, in addition to the gradual change in the official position of the Church, the way this has been publicized sometimes as possibility of dialogue, sometimes as subversion. Journals and magazines are here considered as social and political representations constructed during the years of military dictatorship in Brazil.
