Sexual health and reproductive health in the cárcere

The article deals with access to sexual health and reproductive health of women deprived of liberty in the Florianópolis Women's Prison, based on sexual rights and reproductive rights, in an intersectional perspective of gender and integral health of women. There is a historic omission by the public authorities of incarcerated women, who do not see them as having gender rights and specificities. Women are treated as 'menstruating prisoners', their particularities being summarized to the biological difference, their rights are violated from the construction of prisons designed for men to attention to essential rights such as health, education, work, family ties and (re) socialization. The methodology of the research was qualitative and ethnographic, with emphasis on the narratives of the women and professionals of the Institution. The methodological approach adopted is detailed to give visibility to the construction and analysis, as well as to the field of research.
