This study is an excerpt from a broader investigation developed in the Rural Education Licentiate Course -Emphasis on Natural Sciences. We aimed to show how concepts of the Periodic Table are presented at the National Curriculum Common Base (NCCB) comparing it to the curriculum matrix of two rural schools at Dom Pedrito /RS municipality. The methodological approach is qualitative, in terms of objectives, it is characterized as exploratory and descriptive. As a result, we observed that the concepts of the Periodic Table do not appear explicitly in the NCCB. However, the content is present in the school's curriculum, and to be developed in the ninth grade. With this study, we observe that the BNCC guidelines support the construction and organization of schools' curriculum and allow the autonomy of institutions, as in the case study. Furthermore, the pedagogical practices need to promote contextualized teaching, meeting the demands of contemporaneity.
