This paper aims to discuss the role of different appropriations what we would call a “celtic culture” through the construction of national identities of groups such as the irish, scottish or french Britanny. In this attempt, we seek to identify how the myth of celticism is built through recent History and how a celtic memory culture is forged from this myth in a way that enables us to understand more about the historical conflicts that these groups face even today.
We show here a theoretical outline on the subject, grouding our main ideas in the historical formation of this myth of celticism and how from a cultural memory perspective these different social imaginaries can focus in what we could call an “ invention of celtic memory”.
