Mulherio (1981-1988), inaugurated in a period of political opening, created by women researchers of Carlos Chagas Foudantion, was one of the longest feminist newspapers of the underground press context. It discussed guidelines that intended to build gender equality, as well as organized information about “woman condition” in Brazil. One of the topics that mobilized the newspaper, and all other publications and feminist groups at the time, was the debate about the Constituent, subject that was determinant of the directions taken by the movement in the following decades. In this sense, this article aims to analyze how Mulherio set the maximum, fomented by National Council for Woman’s Rights, of the campaign “Constituent for real has to have woman’s word” in its pages during 1985-1987.
