In the last decade, researchers from different areas have been dedicated to studying the effects of housing policies implemented in contemporary Brazil, especially the results achieved by the Minha Casa Minha Vida (PMCMV) program. In it, specific actions were foreseen to respond to the problem of the lack of housing experienced by the low-income population (with family income of up to 3 minimum wages), considered at level 1 of the program. Much of these post-occupation studies have maintained the same vertical (top-down) and universalist perspective (using population averages and secondary data) used in normative urban planning, often not reaching the dimension of lived in the territories.
