This article is a methodological essay in urban public spaces research in Geography. We use the concept of place-ballet, proposed by David Seamon, in order to explore the potential of the phenomenological approach as an instrument of investigation. This perspective of phenomenology proves to be important, especially because it places the everyday experiences of these places as an essential element in understanding the changes that have occurred in the contemporary city. Therefore, we carry out an epistemological discussion on the relationship between the concepts of territory and place in light of the theoretical basis of Cultural Humanist Geography, intending to suggest a practical-methodological possibility in fieldwork and qualitative research involving geography and public urban spaces
