This article collects the reflections of various fieldwork and readings carried out by the author, in the last forty years, individually and collectively. In the first place, the personal relationship with the case study is presented, which has allowed an extensive and diversified collection of information. Secondly, a first reinterpretation of the various processes of urbanization on a global scale is addressed, from the point of view of Political Economy. Subsequently, some European and Latin American interpretations are analyzed that allow the identification of differential characteristics in urbanization in Latin America and in Brazil. Finally, some first conclusions are advanced that cover the proposed objectives while allowing future research to be guided.
