UMA VISÃO ATUAL DOS CIRCUITOS DA ECONOMIA URBANA

Abstract

I seek to elaborate a general theoreticalempirical frame of the circuits of urban economy at globalization, seeing them as categories apt to understand and analytically split the urban phenomenon. This article is structured in an introduction, five items and a conclusion. In the introduction I briefly present some of the most widely used notions in the study of urban economy. In the following sections I reflect about globalization as a period and about some characteristics of the process of contemporary urbanization; the circuits of urban economy as constitutive of the urban phenomenon; the upper circuit; the marginal portion of the upper circuit; the lower circuit and finally, by way of conclusion, I present some of the complementarities between them. These reflections are based and theoretical and empirical research, individual on collective, as well as in doctoral theses and master´s degrees carried out under my direction.
