The many changes that mark the present times bring new challenges to the reseacher from the point of view of conducting the research. This article deals with the challenges researchers face to adopt the interscale approach in the study of middle-size cities, the role of which have been deeply changing as the relations between them and other urban spaces are not only hierachical and may reach the international scale. The articulation of image production and selection on different spaces interfere in the process of research conduction as much as the researcher's personal experience either enriches or hinders the process of thought elaboration.
