Abstract

This text aims to contribute to the construction of a political agenda of SIMPURB, considering the main urban problems experienced by Brazilian society. It allows to verify the importance and the encompass of the inquiries and questions of scientific meetings sponsored by SIMPURB and leads to a discussion of public policies aimed at improving the quality of urban life regarding to the guiding principles of the Statute of the City. The research in Geography becomes essential to the social reality understanding. The political agenda enables constantly the geographer’s evaluation posture in his professional activity stimulating the discussion about his social role regarding to the urban problems of the country.
