Abstract

This article is an analysis of the spatiality of a particular form of politicalcultural urban activism: the hip-hop movement. We try to demonstrate the indissociability between space and social relations in the formation of a social activism by the singular practices of rap, breaking and graffiti. We conclude that it is possible to analyze some structural characteristics of Brazilian urban space from the viewpoint and formulations of a certain social activism thus changing the focus of analysis which is often centered on the state or the different fractions of the capital.
