The work presents a reflection on the process of consolidation of the metropolitan region of São Paulo (MRSP), linked to processes of economic and territorial remodeling underway in that metropolis, through large urban projects (LUP) of metropolitan character. The MRSP/1973 articulated to the other two metropolitan regions (Santos/1996 and Campinas/2000), in the last decades, with profound transformations in national territory, in politics and in the productive base, conforming, in conjunction to other urban agglomerations, the macro-metropolis of São Paulo. In the panorama of industrial reorganization, the ideologies through the discourse of "deindustrialization to attract more tertiary", lead to the formulation of LUP for the East zone of São Paulo Metropolitan Region which had been justified by the intensification of its territorial-economic association, as reflected in the expansion of projects analyzed Tamanduatehy Axis Project, in Santo André, the expansion of the international airport in Guarulhos; the Urban Operation Urban Rio Verde-Jacu, in São Paulo.
