The metropolis is constituted by an extensive built environment and a big market, with connections of public sector power. When the economic inequalities are significant, the demand and the offer diversify, revealing the existence of different circuits of the urban economy. Today, the upper circuit dominates modern technology and forms of organization that increase the distance between lower circuit and produce new strategies and commercial areas in the city. However, the lower circuit increases its density in areas of important circulation and diversity and ensures the survival of the poor.
