In Brazil, the current urbanization characteristics are those of dispersion. The process takes place in the framework of massive demographic changes and capitalist modernization in metropolitan and sub-metropolitan areas, as well as in larger scale isolated centers, which presently garner approximately 60% of the country's urban population.
