In this work, a discussion is presented on the evolution of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DIT) in contemporary society, starting from a comparison between human communication in different historical phases, in order to justify the importance of reflection and use of TDIC into the school and especially the teaching and learning processes. The literature in the area of Teaching points out that TDIC are presented as tools of interest to teachers in their professional practice, since they are instruments close to the reality of students who enter Brazilian basic education. Based on this premise, we also seek to encourage dialogue between the use of TDIC as cultural instruments, using Vygotsky's historical-cultural reference. Finally, software is discussed and presented as a teaching resource for investigative experimental teaching activities, which has potential for the development of Higher Psychological Functions.
