This study presents a comparative analysis of the content of carboxylic acids and themes, using Bardin's categorical content analysis, between the two Chemistry textbooks selected by the Integrated Technical High School curses at the Federal Institute of Paraná - Palmas campus. The aim was to compare the two books in relation to the concepts of carboxylic acids and their possibilities for thematic contextualization. During the analysis, differences were observed between the concepts covered and their distribution in relation to the volumes that make up each subject. It should be noted that the two textbooks cover similar topics in relation to the environment, health, food, and the chemical industry. However, they are presented through examples, mainly related to motivation, without exploring the potential of contextualization in discussing the resolution of current problems.
