This article is characterized as a qualitative field research. Its main objective is to present a two-year study on how the teaching of Astronomy is offered in basic education in the municipality of São Borja, Rio Grande do Sul. Mandatory in the official documents of Brazilian education, Astronomy is still a topic to be discovered by students of basic education in Brazil, as well as the insertion of the debate in the initial formation courses of teachers-licenciatura. The research was developed through a questionnaire applied to thirteen teachers in the city of the basic education network. It was found that the theme "Astronomy" practically does not exist in schools, mainly due to the precarious initial training of Science teachers regarding topics related to the subject. After collecting data, the authors/researchers decided to opt for the construction of a pedagogical tool: the blog. The same aimed to teach Astronomy in the classroom, thus subsidizing the teachers of the basic education network to rethink their teaching practices related to the teaching of Astronomy in the classroom. After presenting the blog in schools, it was found that it constitutes a dynamic and collaborative tool to help teachers to meet the minimum requirements contained in the legal documents of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) of the educational system.
