Teaching Statistics in Primary Schools: an overview of research in Brazil

This article presents an analysis of scientific publications on the teaching of Statistics in Elementary School, at the Brazilian level. To this end, a bibliographical research with a qualitative approach was carried out, using the Systematic Literature Review method. The data obtained from the selection of twenty-four works, collected in the second semester of 2022, in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations, maintained by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, point out the distribution occurred between the years 2009 to 2022, with a greater concentration in 2013. As for the region, it was identified that the South presented the highest number of researches; in relation to the postgraduate course, a greater number of works were verified in the Professional Master's Degree. Regarding the line of research, the lines of continuing teacher training and teaching were verified. It was found that the most discussed concept was that of graphs, in all works, followed by the concept of table, followed by average. Finally, we observed that statistical knowledge helps in the development of criticality and citizenship, as it helps to analyze situations, cost of living indices, choose samples and, in this way, make decisions in the most diverse everyday situations.
