Abstract

Studies and analyzes by the IBGE point out that school evasion and abandonment have always been a reality in Brazil. One of the possible causes for this problem is the use of traditional methodologies that often have the power to discourage the student. In this context, a workshop was structured to teach students the concepts of Physics and Mathematics, based on data collection and analysis procedures in a non-formal education space. The workshop was held both in the classroom and in the park of the Museum of Biology Prof. Mello Leitão (MBML), in Santa Teresa, State of Espírito Santo, with the participation of 118 students from 6 classes of the 1st year of high school at EEEFM José Pinto Coelho who collected data to calculate the flow of the São Pedro stream that passes through the Museum Park and behind the School. Preliminary results reveal that in a museum space, students tend to have greater interaction and engagement based on wellplanned activities that can be understood as motivators that promote student participation in the construction of knowledge.
