Our objective is to show the scene understanding as an interpretative method of the narratives about the development’ process of the self-awareness in the teacher’s education. Under the light of the dialectic thinking, we dialogue with Álvaro Vieira Pinto and Paulo Freire to discuss the concept of awareness; and Maria Helena Abrahão, José Marinas e Cristina Santamarina to discuss about narratives and scene understanding. In the context of a formative process that aims at the critical conscience, the narrative may highlight the awareness about the theme and allow reflect and understand the conditionings factors, enabling the development of the conscious awareness. We show an application of the method in two narratives of the undergraduates in physics that participated in the Pedagogical Residence Program at UFES. The scenes mirrored the categories of the dialectic: totality, contradiction and historicity. The method show the awareness, allow self-dialogue and justify awareness-decisions about the choice of teaching and the ethical political viewpoint as a teacher. We hope that our results can assist trainers and researchers to analyze formative process that aims the critical conscience about the Brazilian reality.
