The theory of conceptual profiles models the heterogeneity of thought about a given concept, allowing the accommodation of different ways of thinking and ways of speaking in specific areas. We seek to understand how the theory of conceptual profiles has been used in the context of chemistry, sketching an overview through horizontal mapping and a more analytical state through vertical mapping. In addition the concepts of heat and substance have been the most used in the proposition of didactic sequences for the teaching of Chemistry and also the use of profiles already proposed in teaching activities surpasses the proposition of new profiles. In addition, the theory has been little used to analyze the ways of thinking and ways of talking of professors in chemistry.
