This is a study of the song “Lindonéia”, as performed by Nara Leão and composed by Caetano Veloso, considering its intertextuality with Lindonéia, a Gioconda do subúrbio by Rubens Gerchman, its dialogue with Brazilian society by the end of the 1960s and the project of nation at stake. The analysis focuses the treatment of textual and sonorous image in relation to Brazil’s image as devised during this period.
