Historiography is impregnated with the senses of the universality of the masculine and the white. To deconstruct or question the violence that is also imaginative, I present part of a research that takes as a source the collection of Moacyr Freitas’ historical pictures. He was architect, draftsman and painted canvases that represent facts of the history of Mato Grosso. The paintings are in the Historical Museum of Cuiabá and some were reproduced in didactic book. The two paintings of the collection researched selected for this article are the only ones that bring women as protagonists: A paz com os Guayacurus and Rosa Bororo. Through them it is possible to develop ethnic-racial and gender debates.
