Abstract

The Amazon reality is a diverse topic that concerns to a wide range of actors. In the present contribution, we analyze, through testaments and post-mortem inventories from Bragança and Ourém Villages in the XIX century, the role performed by a group of women in the rural society of that time, as possessors and maintainers of the familiar heritage, helping to get over the fragile and submitted white woman stereotype, through which those ladies are not rarely represented.
