Focusing our analysis on cultural expressions developed in Cuba (Casa de las Américas journal) and Chile (Chilean New Song movement), we will examine how different "layers" of identity were articulated in works of writers and artists that expressed a political and intellectual engagement associated with the political imaginary of the left in the 1960s and 1970s in Latin America. We intend, therefore, to contribute to a transnational approach on culture and politics in the context considered.
