Abstract

The documentary Os Queixadas was produced in 1977. It was about the trade-union actions after the military coup in 1964. The director Rogério Corrêa invited the unionists in order to recreate a strike occurred fifteen years before. The film shows the contradictions and changes in the political context of redemocratization. Through the analysis of the production of the film, its narrative proposal, discussed by critics, reporters and interviews with the author, this article discusses the range and the limits of this proposal of historical reconstition.
