Abstract

In recent years the city of Criciúma (State of Santa Catarina, Brazil) has consolidated a intense flow of migrants to the United States. These Criciuma’s inhabitants migrated in search of better opportunities. However, the final objective of these migrations is to return to their hometown. But, this return may be more difficult than the initial migration. There are many estrangements between the leaved city, preserved in memory as it was on the day of departure, and the refound city. The narration of these (re)feelings allows us different perspectives on migration and its relationship with the city.

Keywords: City, contemporary migrations, estrangement, Criciuma, State of Santa Catarina (Brazil).
