Abstract

Since the last decades of the 20th century, the city of Urussanga, entitled as the italian capital of Santa Catarina State, has experienced a process of affirmation the Italian identity. This article shows the diversity of motivations that Urussanga inhabitants had to affirm the Italian identity, and as well through the holidays, cuisine, through the dual citizenship, the consulate actions, and thorugh gemellaggio with the Italian city of Longarone, a pact created employment opportunities in Europe.
