Abstract

Founded in 1965, the Celso Ramos Settlement (in Frei Rogério, State of Santa Catarina, Brazil) was one of the places of destination in Brazil to Japanese immigrants until the 1970’s. In the following decade, a migration begins from Núcleo Celso Ramos to Japan, intensified in the 1990’s decade. Realizing the Núcleo Celso Ramos as a colony of immigrants and emigrants, based on Oral History, this paper aims to discuss memories of migrants from these two migration flows which run through by different temporalities and generational conflicts in the festival Sakura Matsuri’s (Cherry Blossom Festival) in the colony.
