Abstract

This article intend to present some historiographical aspects of the species gallus gallus, it's probable origin in Asia, where, from very early, the anthropization made it possible their domestication and subsequent diffusion throughout the world. After that, it will be analyzed, based on assumptions of the environmental history regarding the practice of cockfights, its legal and moral aspects. To do this, are brought testimonials for the purpose of a more relativistic perspective, and less dualistic between nature and culture, observing, thus, how it was and how it is the interaction between men and roosters.
