Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between newspapers and cordel booklets, comparing reports on the case known as the “Republic Square crime” (1942), published in Folha Vespertina newspaper, and two cordel booklets written by poet Arinos de Belém and edited by Guajarina publishing house, based in Belém. Thus, the aim is to understand how to turn news into cordel literature verses.
