Abstract

This paper seeks to reflect upon the urban space of Manaus at the turn of the nineteenth to the twentieth century, showing the implantation mechanisms of a bourgeois republican order, as well as the impact of this process on specific groups, markedly the workers, who have assimilated some of the elements of this republican order to legitimize the political struggle for the improvement of their living and working conditions.
