Abstract

The text deals with the repression suffered by the residents of Itapiranga during the Estado Novo of Vargas, since there was concentrated a relatively homogeneous core of Catholic Germans. The crackdown is part of a macro context, connected to the nationwide campaign of nationalization, but strongly marks the regional history and reshapes the local society especially from 1942, assuming a particular character set by local agents.
