Television as a site of memory and social representation

Documento Especial: Televisão Verdade (1989 – 1995)

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the role of television as an important instrument of social representation and collective memory construction in Brazil during the years of redemocratization. To do so, I use as a reference the telejournalistic program Documento Especial: Televisão Verdade of the television network Rede Manchete, which assumed as an interlocutor of social problems and sociological issues through its journalistic team.
