This work aims to describe and analyze a trigger activity based on Inquiry-based Science Education. This activity, named "Which Leaf Is It?", comprised the initial stage of a scientific workshop offered in three editions to 32 science teachers from municipal public schools in Itaboraí (RJ). Through a very simple and accessible proposal, the goal was to foster discussions on aspects related to scientific activity and stimulate curiosity about the scientific methodology. The activity successfully promoted a relaxed atmosphere and interaction, engaging participants in scientific practices such as observation, description, argumentation, and material utilization. Considering that inquiry is a central element in the National Common Curricular Base for science education, it is anticipated that this training has contributed to teachers' understanding of the investigative approach, enabling them to incorporate it into their teaching plans, aiming to promote scientific literacy.
