The article investigates how critical thinking is understood by different authors and highlights the proposal of Matthew Lipman, centered on the community of inquiry. Based on theoretical review and comparative analysis, the importance of attitudes, cognitive skills, and the school environment for the development of this competence is discussed. The results show that scientific initiation, when well-conducted, favors students' intellectual autonomy and contributes to more reflective and transformative educational practices.
