The community, social and popular pre-university courses are initiatives that aim to provide opportunities for people from different social backgrounds to the university education. This work addresses the teaching biology in community pre-university courses in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with the aim of identifying the themes and didactic materials used by teachers in these courses. The research adopted a qualitative approach, analyzing academic productions between 2012 and 2023, published in the Actas of ENPEC and ENEBIO and in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of CAPES. In the survey, twelve works were found, of which seven were selected that relate Biology education to themes and didactic materials. The analysis of these publications showed that biology teachers in these courses used a variety of teaching materials, including course packets, textbooks, maps, videos, slides, collections, didactic models, and articles about experiments in labs. As for the topics covered, they were related both to the knowledge required in the National High School Exam (ENEM) in recent years, and to the students' daily lives. The use of different didactic materials sought to make Biology education more attractive to students, while also preparing them for the university entrance exams.
