This review deals with the master's thesis: "Investigative didactic sequence on tattoos — Possibility for scientific literacy in the teaching of chemistry", by the author Danylo David de Lima Silva. In this academic production, the researcher develops a pedagogical proposal for the content of organic chemical functions based on the theoretical-methodological contribution of Carvalho (2009), who grounded basic aspects of teaching by investigation in the planning, structuring and implementation of didactic actions employed in the classroom routine. From this reference, the work presents as an innovative problem the debate about the inks used in the procedures of application of tattoos on human skin and its biochemical implications on health, therefore, this approach undertaken in graduate studies, aimed to promote the teaching-learning of students, portraying the relevance of contextualized activities in the formation of knowledge and scientific literacy .For these reasons, we seek to critically analyze this work through this writing, ascertaining the feasibility and limits that the investigative didactic sequences add to educational practice in the area of Sciences, pointing out the importance of the study in the production of differentiated knowledge regarding the pedagogical work of educators in the area of Chemistry and Biology.
