During the participation in the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP) of the Chemistry Nucleus of the Federal University of Piauí, different active methodologies were applied. This experience report aims to present the main observations made throughout the development of activities that were carried out in second and third-year classes of high school in a public school in the city of Teresina-PI. The application of the active methodology took place in three stages: in the first stage, the topics that would be worked on in the classroom were chosen. In the second, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology was chosen, as it is a teaching method that brings the student's reality to the classroom. And in the third, the application of the active methodology. With the applied teaching methodology, a preliminary diagnosis of the students was carried out, which pointed to a difficulty in understanding the content, evidencing a deficit in scientific literacy, it was possible to create a learning environment focused on the student, and finally, the experiences lived during the PRP contributed to the teacher training, regarding the understanding of the teacher's role and the strengthening of the professional bond, in the certainty of wanting to enter this career as a future profession.
