The purpose of this study is to provide a report related to the experience gained from the 1st Science Fair of Physics Experiments, resulting from a partnership between the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), the Institutional Tuition Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBID) and the Domingos Agenor Smith Municipal School, in the town of Coari, Amazonas. The objective of this project was to provide experience in methodology to the academics participating in the program and to stimulate the learning process of junior high school level students, transforming theoretical knowledge of physics into practical. Bibliographical research was carried out to select the 8 experiments which used low-cost materials. Following this, the theoretical content was explained to the students by the academics who had received the scholarships, and the experiments were conducted. Panels/banners were made, and the experiments were exhibited. Both the academics and students participated actively in all stages of the exercise and the results were positive and satisfactory for all concerned. Hence, the teaching-learning process of physics at junior high school level through the use of experiments permits the interlinking of both theoretical and practical knowledge and is an effective motivating methodology.
