Genetics, is one of the most fantastic areas of Biology, and is concerned with studying heredity, as well as the functioning and structure of genes. However, it is endowed with a complex and abstract theoretical support, which can discourage students from learning. In this sense, the present article has as main objective, the proposal of using a movie from the cinema, called "The Eighth Day" as a facilitator axis of the teaching and learning of Genetics topics such as mutations and Down syndrome to students of the Higher level of Biological Sciences courses and others in the Health area. We believe that the film used, together with the discussions and problematizations of the teacher, can instigate the interest of the students, making the discipline of Genetics more pleasant, allowing a more effective learning of the aforementioned topics.
