Grape treading is one of the main tourist-cultural attractions of the harvest in Bento Gonçalves - RS, presented as a symbol of ethnic identity of the descendants of Italian settlers in Serra Gaúcha. In addition to the festival dedicated to the grape harvest, the activity involves visiting vineyards and historic houses of family farmers, who narrate their local memories, sell artisanal products and perform traditional songs and dances from Italian immigration. Seeking to inventory its manifestations as intangible cultural heritage, through participant observation under the concept of multisensory ethnographies, I visit two family vineyards from different locations in the city. I base my analysis on the literature review on heritage, memory and identity and on the approach to intangible heritage as performance that is repeated and learned. The study results in the understanding of a closer way of interacting with the landscape and cultural heritage.
