PAULO DE SIQUEIRA: THE LIFE AND WORK OF DON QUIXOTEDE LA MANCHA OF THE ARTS

This article aims to outline, in general terms, a history of the life of the artist Paulo Batista de Siqueira. Born in the year of grace 1949 in Soledade/RS, he was an artist and columnist who stood out due to his artistic work and construction of monuments, being the author of the work called “the trailblazer”, the ultimate symbol of colonization in Chapecó. Paulo studied at the Instituto Educacional de Passo Fundo and very early began his career in the artistic world, opening his first exhibition when he was still a teenager, however, it was when he moved to Chapecó that his skills and artistic creativity were expanded, after all, with the support of the public authorities he created several monuments, participated in exhibitions and joined artists' collectives, such as the Chap group, which aimed to increase Chapecó's visibility in other spaces and places by proposing art exhibitions. During his life, Paulo de Siqueira designed and built countless monuments, in the nineties he emphasized religious themes and produced frantically until his early death at the age of 47 in 1996.
